Self-evaulation (& some random pictures)

Leave it up to Sienna to keep me in check.  Everyday, sometimes more than once,  she will ask me, "Do you think you're being a nice Mommy today?"  Seriously.  Sometimes it comes out of the blue, other times it's at specific times, say after I tell her to clean up her toys or that she has to take a nap.  It's funny that this little phrase from a not quite 4 year old will stop me dead in my tracks and make me think about the type of Mommy I am being that day.  Sometimes I feel horrible, because I've lost my patience with her and I know exactly what she's thinking - no, I'm not being a nice Mommy.  Other times, I genuinely feel like I am being the best I can be, and she just happens to disagree with what I've told her to do - tough luck!  So, her little question that catches me off guard has really helped me with a sort of self-evaluation during the day.  It makes me question how I am being perceived in their eyes, and if I'm doing the best that I can.  Some days it's not easy to change course - you just get stuck in a rut - coffee is being spilled all over carpet (that was this morning, Scott...), noses are constantly running, siblings are constantly fighting over toys that they don't even like (!), a toddler, who will remain nameless, pretends he's Evil Knieval and literally tries to end up in the ER, and the list goes on and on.  It's hard to change course, but I have Sienna, thankfully, to remind me that I HAVE to try and be a nice Mommy, because someone is evaulating my every move and word!  :)

Lately, Sienna has been challenging me in SO many ways and I really didn't think I was going to have the "I'm not here to be your best-friend..." chat with her so early.  She is the sweetest, kindest, most loving child 95% of the time, but the other 5%...well, most Mom's know what I'm talking about....it's like you don't even recognize them!  She can be so sensitive, emotional and moody and honestly, I have no idea where she gets it from!!!  ;)  I love her to death and I'm so thankful God gave her to us.  I know I have SO much to learn from her.

Here she is, about 5 minutes after waking up.  High heels and cell phone are a must first thing in the morning, you know!

Sienna wrote her name!  I only took a picture, because she HAD to send it to Daddy, but now I'm glad I did.  She will look back on this one day and laugh.  :)  I helped a little with the S and the first N, but the rest was all her!  I'm so proud.

The kids got some QT with their cousin Brooke over this past weekend.  They all played so nicely together, we forgot they were even here!  Brooke loves baby Noah and is always asking to hold him...such a sweetheart!

As you may have read on our friends Meredith and Megan's blogs, we had a monster playdate last Friday!  9 kids, all under the age of 4 = NUTS!  It was so much fun and Missy was such an angel for hosting us and whipping up dinner for my very picky kids!  It was definitely a playdate to remember - we had such a blast!

Here's all our Libra babies.  Noah, Beckett and Avery - all born in October!

Here's all the "older" kids - ages range from not quite 2 (Hudson and Sophie), not quite 3 (Cade and Braden) and not quite 4 (Sienna and Ava) :)

Sienna and her BFF, Ava.  These two are so precious together.

That picture of Sienna's attempt to write her name sort of made me sad, because she is growing up so fast, but at the same time I'm very proud because she is such a smart little girl;) Love all the pictures from your play date - all the kids are too cute!
