Christmas so far...

I decided to make Christmas a two-part posting because we have got a TON of Christmas-related-activity pictures to share!  Like most, we've been celebrating Christmas since the day after Thanksgiving.  We've shopped, baked, ate, decorated, sang, watched Christmas movies, sat on numerous Santa laps, partied, sang some more, visited friends, oooh'd and ahhhh'd over big Christmas trees, ate some more, etc.  You get the idea.  It's been a crazy month preparing for Jesus' birthday and here are some of the highlights...

Grammy (Scott's mom), came up with the cutest idea for the kids and wrapped up 25 books for them to open each day leading up to Christmas.  So every morning in December, we wake up, hunt for Max (our Elf on the Shelf), open a book, read the book, and then eat chocolate from our Advent Calendars.  Yes, all this before breakfast.  They really love this little routine we've developed - it's adorable.

The first weekend in December we went out to Travinia in The Village at Leesburg for a Breakfast with Santa.  This was such a good deal (only $10/pp and 4 and under ate for FREE!)!  Not to sound incredibly cheap, but we love a good deal and there's not a whole lot of places that a family of 5 can eat for 20 bucks AND visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus AND get 3 free pictures taken.  Haha.  I don't have a scanner, so you'll have to imagine what ME, Sienna, Hudson and Noah look like sitting around him, but here are some with Mrs. Claus and of the monsters getting all excited.

The second weekend in December was jam-packed with holiday sing-alongs and parties galore!  We started it off on Friday night at Sienna's preschool sing-along at the Church.  Sienna's favorite is Little Drummer Boy.  Hehe.  That Saturday we had a double-dose of partying  and our first stop was at the annual Westrick Family (Scott's Mom's side) Christmas party in Maryland.  That was a ton of fun because Barbara is 1 of 11 kids!  So you can imagine the extended family that was present.  Every year they get a Santa to come and give out presents to the kids, which is definitely the highlight of the party.  It's such a fun tradition and the kids love getting to play with so many other kids.  One of Noah's distant cousins is only a week older than him!  After the Maryland party, we dropped the kids off at my parent's house and headed to Scott's work Christmas party.  It was an ugly-sweater themed party, but I didn't participate - uh oh!  :)  Scott did and sadly I didn't get any pictures of him sporting my Grandmother's Christmas sweater.  :)  It was a fun time and nice to meet some of his co-workers!

Last weekend we had some more partying to do.  (Seriously, our calendar is NEVER this packed, but tis' the season...)  Friday was Sienna's preschool 'Happy Birthday, Jesus' party and it was adorable.  Lots of snacking, singing, present giving, and laughing!  Saturday evening we ventured out to our friends, Steve and Jenny, house for yet another Christmas party.  It was fun catching up with friends, eating, gift swapping, and the kids got to hang with their friend, Benjamin, which they always love.  And finally, on Sunday, we wrapped things up with dinner and a visit to the National Christmas tree!  Friends of ours, The Trendell's (Scott and I used to work with Matt), invited us to join them in the city for dinner first and then a stroll around the Elipse.  It was a tad chilly, but sooo much fun.  I'm not sure we would've had the guts to attempt this outing on our own, but I'm so glad they invited us, because it was a night to remember.  The kids loved the trees and the nativity scene and also got some quality time with their buds, Paige and Colin, who are just about Sienna and Hudson's ages.  Good times!

So there you have it - our Christmas celebrations thus far.  See what I mean?  Aren't you glad I didn't make one big Christmas post?!  :)  T-5 days!  Wooohoo - the kids are getting so excited and so am I!
