Curly Hair. Blessing or Curse?

It never fails - everyone wants what they can't have. I have spent the better part of 28 years wishing that I just had straight hair and didn't have to put up with my frizzy, afro'ish, curly hair on a day-to-day basis. It would be alot easier to put up with in my mind if I knew exactly which relative was responsible for this, so I can personally blame them. But alas, no one has hair like me in my whole family! :) My mom and sister have thick hair with some body, my Dad's Sister has curly hair, but not quite as tightly wound as mine, and that's about all I've got to go on.

Throughout my years as a kid and a teenager, I put my hair (and my mother) through so much trauma. When perms were popular, I insisted on getting one (I know, ridiculous), because I thought it would change the shape and texture of my curls into something I could like a little better. Um, yeah, that was a waste of money. When permanent straighteners came out, I insisted on getting that done and was convinced that my hair would dry every day like Jennifer Anniston. Boy was I wrong! Then flat irons made their debut on the market and I was in heaven! I probably straightened my hair everyday for at least 7 years...until one thing happened...I had Sienna. :) My sleep and time with her were far more precious than spending one whole hour on my hair, and I gave it up completely. It now takes about 5 minutes to do my hair...towel dry, product, scrunch and go, and I couldn't be happier with that plan. Don't get me wrong, there are still MANY days (especially in the summer) that I wouldn't kill for straight hair, but I have grown to love my afro. :)

I know in my heart that Sienna will have a serious love/hate relationship with her hair as she grows up and I also know I will be spending lots of time and money trying to make her happy with her curls. But, at least she can personally blame me for it! :)

very cute...be thankful that ALL of your hair is one texture...I have curly hair in the front and not-straight hair in the back...so I look horrible if I let my hair air-dry...sigh, I have to pick which way to go each day ;o)

Sienna has great hair and she will know who to thank for it! :o)
