Adventures in DC

So last week, I ventured into DC 3 times!  3 times in one week!  I think that's a record.  I go in spurts with DC...I guess you could say I have a love/hate relationship with the Nation's Capital.  Typically, I stay away from it.  Traffic, tourists, confusion, high-priced restaurants/drinks are all good reasons why we chose to hang out elsewhere.  However, lately, for some unknown reason I've felt the need to see and do more downtown and I've loved every second of it!

Last Tuesday my friend Shandiz celebrated her 26th birthday at the restaurant/lounge, Buddha Bar.  I don't have any pictures of this because I forgot my camera, but I had to mention it because it's a really cool place.  It's an Asian restaurant that had a DJ spinning a lot of international music.  The whole place was ginormous and while I didn't eat anything, the food looked delicious!  If anyone has ever been to Tao in NYC, it's sort of similar to that.  A really fun place...try it!

On Saturday morning, Scott and I took the kids to the Natural History Museum and for a quick walk around the National Monument.  It was a short trip, just 2 or so hours, but perfect for us and our 3 kids, 4 and under.  :)

We got there before the museum opened, so we had to entertain ourselves.

Then, on Saturday night, we dropped all 3 munchkins at my parents house and headed BACK downtown to have a double date night with some great friends, Craig and Liz.  We ate at the Old Ebbit Grill, which was so fabulous, walked to the White House for some photo-ops and then onto a fun bar on 14th street, Churchkey.  Churckey was great for the guys - lots of different beers to try!  After about 45 minutes of standing around, we got a table there and the evening was much more enjoyable from there - as you can see from our pictures.  :)  We had such a fun time and are so thankful to my parents for keeping the kids, it was a much-needed, fun time away!

We're strange.

Scott and I have issues.

Check please!

great that you got to dc so many times. what time in the am did you go to the museum? It looked like a great time to go!! Also, the reason that you and scott look like that is because you aren't dining with three children!! It happens to us too..:)

LOVE the double-date-night pictures! haha! Glad you were able to get out for some much-needed adult time! :o)

The Smithsonian is great for little ones "our age"...we took Chase & Addy a month or two back, and they didn't get bored, b/c you just move from one thing to another.

Isn't it funny, we all live so close, and don't make the trip into DC?
