At the start of every summer, usually sometime before Memorial Day, Scott and I make a list of all the fun things we want to do during the weekends of the Summer. We always have the conversation about how we live so close to Nations Capital and all these cool things, but yet we never take advantage of it. So our list usually contains the usual suspects: the zoo, the aquarium, the monuments, Mount Vernon, hikes, waterparks, etc, etc. Well, this past weekend we actually accomplished one thing on our list - Mount Vernon!
I had been there once before but I had no memory of it, so it was fun discovering it all over again with the kids! Being that I have a 4, 2 and 9 month old, they weren't falling over themselves with excitement to learn about our first president, but it was fun for them to see the animals on the property, the pretty flowers in the gardens, the big house and the "big box" that GW was buried in...that was an interesting conversation! We got some pretty good pictures and had an amazing time just getting out of Loudoun County and experiencing something different!

Hanging with GW.
This cracks me up. I told her to go stand by George and she grabs his hand and poses as if she's part of the family. :)
Scott and Hud playing catch in front of GW's house.
Our little family.
