Already 3?

I remember Hudson's birth into this world like it was yesterday...and not for great reasons, either.  I've told this story on the blog and to anyone who will listen, but it was such an awful c-section.  The doctor's didn't give me the "full coverage" spinal (due to a freaked out anthesiologist because of the 4" scar on my lumbar spine) and opted instead for the epidural.  They didn't give it enough time to work before slicing....and you can guess the rest of the story.  I screamed lots of inappropriate things on the operating table and it's a wonder I decided later to get pregnant with Noah.  :)  Hudson's birth may have been a less than an ideal experience, but the past 3 years have been nothing short of amazing!  He turned 3 on March 25th and I am more and more blessed by him everyday.  Here is what he's into now:

  • SPORTS, SPORTS and more SPORTS.  He just finished swim lessons, he's playing soccer now and if you ask him, he'll tell you he's going to play basketball, golf and baseball "when he's a little older."  He's obsessed with balls and we had to move the little tikes basketball hoop to the main level - you know, so he can shoot hoops 24/7.
  • He is kind-hearted, sensitive and loveable.  I'm constantly catching him with his arm around his brother or sister, telling others that he loves them, or rubbing my arm.  Every night when I ask him what he wants to thank God for, he says his Mommy and Daddy.
  • He really likes to hear Bible stories (Jonah and the Whale is his fave) and loves to touch the words in the Bible, just like at BSF.  He knows the Our Father well, but can't sit still for Mass.
  • He can write "H" really good and will tell you it's his favorite letter.  He will also point out any H he sees...anywhere!
  • He is the pickiest and most stubborn eater.  He will hold his food in his mouth like a chimpmunk for hours.  Disgusting!  I can really only get him to eat Carbs and Watermelon, oh and Taco Meat.  You know, the healthy stuff.
  • He is shy around others at first, but will open up eventually.
  • He is still not potty-trained.  We're going to step our game in this department ASAP.  (2 in diapers is getting old fast.)
  • He loves music and between him and Sienna, I mostly play DJ in the car.  His current favorites are "Stuck like Glue" by Sugarland, "Born this Way" by Lady Gaga and of course we're still rocking "Hallelujah" by Lee DeWyze...lol.
  • He is very protective of Noah...unitl he steals his basketball...then all bets are off.
  • He's got great fine-motor control and can draw a stick-person well.  I know this because he just drew one on our white walls...with a sharpie.
  • He's mischievous.  Let's not forget his last name....
Hudson definitely keeps me on my toes, but melts my heart at the same time.  I love him to death and couldn't imagine my world without him.

I posted this on facebook a while back, but take a look at this old picture of my Aunt Pat, Aunt Kathy and my Dad.  I'm still so amazed at how much Hudson looks like my Dad.

We need to have a Hudson and Miles play date :) They can hang out and eat junk together (since Miles too will eat basically nothing except pizza, soda and brownies - all super healthy!) Happy Birthday Hudson!

He definitely is extremely kind hearted - and at such a young age, too! Whenever we're over, he is always offering me something whether it's a cookie or a chip;) Love him to pieces! Happy Birthday, Hudson! xoxo
