July on rewind.

It's August.  When the heck did that happen?  I start back to nursing school in just 3 short weeks and Sienna begins kindergarten in 4 weeks.  Let the freaking out commence!

Our July was full of fun weekends and an amazing vacation to DE (seperate blog post on this later).

To kick off the month and to celebrate our love of America, we headed to Lake Anna for a fun, but short trip to the Opitz lake house.  Every year, Peggy and Karl Opitz so generously host a house full of 30 something's (and their kids!) for sun, food, games, roasting marshmallows, telling scary stories, boating and relaxation.  We brought the kids this year and as usual, they loved every second.  The really great thing about this lake house is they have a beach area that is packed with great toys and very shallow water and it's perfect for the kids!  After the kids went down, we played a very intense game of Pictionary (guys v. girls) and I may have never laughed so hard in all my life.  Good times.

The following weekend we were off to Middleburg to celebrate the wedding of Ryan and Sarah Toland!  The venue was beautiful and the company was even better!  It was a mini HS reunion of sorts and Scott and I had a blast.  We really need to get out more - that's obvious from the pictures.

Right smack in the middle of July, Sienna and Hudson attended Vacation Bible School at a local church.  This was Sienna's second week of VBS this summer, and Hudson's first ever week of VBS.  Sienna was so pumped and did great transitioning, but Hudson was a little more shy and uneasy about the whole thing.  He only really cried at drop-off the last day (strange?), but other than that, he did good!  I learned from Sienna and some of her friends in her class that Hudson made his way into his sister's class during the day.  I started to question what was going on when everyday I went to pick up the kids, Hudson was sitting with his sister in the sanctuary, instead of his class.  Honestly, it warmed my heart that he wanted to be close to her and felt safe with her.  She LOVED every second of the attention and really honed in on her mothering skills that week.  All in all, it was a great week for them.  The bible stories and songs that they learn are so perfect for their age and we get a CD to take home!  So the fun never stops...haha.  I loved the 1-on-1 I got with Noah and was able to get a lot done with just 1 kid.  We celebrated the last day with a picnic on the church grounds.  Look at all these children that attended BSF....from only 4 mothers...and there's 4 more kids waiting in the wings to attend VBS in the upcoming years.

Other than those fun weeks/weekends, we've been laying low, enjoying some family time.  We've seen The Smurfs and Cars 2, had LOTS of ice-cream, played in some local fountains, enjoyed a few (but not many) trips to the pool, took some rides through the country and did some hiking with Daddy.

Wow - how can the summer almost be over (there are still a few weeks left; why am I a half glass empty type of girl)! Can't believe Sienna will be starting kindergarten, and you will be back in class soon...July flew by, but at least you all had some really fun events to enjoy together!
