The last time I posted was January 15th and just two days after that, my Dad was admitted to the hospital. At 3:14AM on Monday, February 4th, with my Mom, Vicki, Scott and myself all lying on top of him in the hospital bed, he was called to Heaven. To say my life will never be the same is an understatement.
My Dad was an incredible man that had the highest level of honesty and integrity I've ever seen in a person. He had an incredible work ethic and worked so hard to provide everything for his girls and grandchildren. He never complained, ever and was always so pleasant, calm and kind. I'd be a liar if I said that time has helped heal this wound. We are coming up on 3 months and I'm worse off now, then I was on February 5th. I miss him. A lot.
It seems kind of weird to go back so far and post about Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years now. Take my word for it, they were great - and will forever hold a special place in my heart because they were the last holiday's we got to spend with him.
Our first real holiday without my Dad was probably the hardest, because it was such a special day for him...St. Patrick's Day! Of course, if you regularly read this blog, you already know the tradition that my Dad started when I was little. So, on a very cold, cloudy St. Patrick's day, we did exactly what my Dad would have done...ran around the woods, yelling out for leprechauns, pretending like we saw them and chasing after them...I know he got a good laugh from up above.

We had some impromptu guests join us on our hunt after church and it was fun to teach our friends all about our fun little tradition. I think they had fun!
Cade and Scott inspecting "leprechaun tracks" they found in the dirt.
We didn't find leprechauns or the pot of gold - but we got letters and money!!

Beautiful tribute to your dad, Shannon. In the past few months you have already made him proud. just by being your strong, cheerful self, not complaining, hey, sounds like you're following right in his footsteps! Love you!
Im so sorry Shannon :( I actually thought of your dad on st patricks day because I remember old posts of all the fun things he would do with you. What a great way to honor him and have his memory live on with your kids. I wish I could take away your pain - but it sounds like you are a lot like your dad with a positive, move forward attitude. praying for you!
