What's new?

Yikes!  It's been about 6 weeks since our last post.  I'd love to say that we've been super busy doing super fun things, but that's really not the case.  January-March is my LEAST favorite time of the year.  There's really nothing to look forward to for our family (except for Hudson's birthday at the end of March), football has come to an end and it's really so dark and cold that you only leave the house if you have to.  April, May and June are filled with birthday's, holiday's, sports for the kids, our 6 year anniversary and the beginning of Spring, and I'm so ready for it.  Can we just go to bed and wake up on April 1st...or at least March 13th, when we set the clocks ahead?  :)

I'm knee deep in Psychiatric Nursing and have learned recently about Seasonal Affective Disorder, which is defined as depression that comes with shortened daylight in winter and fall and disappears during spring and summer.  It is characterized by hypersomnia, lethargy and fatigue, increased anxiety, irriatability, increased appetite with carb craving, and often weight gain.  Check, check, check and check.  Haha.  I'm mostly kidding, but it is kind of crazy that this is a real, diagnosable thing.  :)  Anyone that has talked to me recently about school knows how terrified I was about starting my psych clinical rotation.  And to be honest, I'm still pretty uncomfortable on the unit, however, I'm loving how much I'm learning!  Sure I spend a lot of time with my face buried in textbooks, learning definitions, diagnoses, theories, etc., but the most valuable part (I think) is how much I'm learning about myself as a person and a future nurse.  I LOVE talking to people, learning about people and helping people and I have truly found the most perfect profession for me.  That's a great feeling.  I only have 2 more weeks left in Psych, then spring break (I think my Mom and S & H are heading to Myrtle!), then I start my OB rotation!  I'm soo ready to see some babies be welcomed into this world!!  :)

In other news, we've signed up S & H for swimming lessons that start this Sunday.  This should be incredibly interesting.  Sienna also starts T-ball in March and Hudson starts Soccer!  We're going to be busy, busy with games and such this Spring...especially since Scott is coaching Sienna's T-ball team!  Haha - so cute!  I've been busy planning and booking 2 beach trips for the summer and I'm sooo pumped about this!  One is with family in mid-July and the other is just an overnight trip with girlfriends in mid-August.  Can't wait!!

Here are a couple of pictures from this past Sunday when we went to the Loudoun Hounds Fan Fest!  They had a great turnout and we are sooo excited for baseball in Loudoun next Spring.  It's going to be such a fun, inexpensive outing for the kids and it will be so close to home!

 Best Buds.

 Practicing for t-ball this Spring.

Hudson did really well at this.  :)  I wish we could sign him up for t-ball this year!

Noah in his best pitcher stance.

We got there early and had the whole coloring table to ourselves.  Ha.

That's all for now.  Not a whole of exciting news to report.  Praying for a more eventful March...hehe.  :)

Come on spring!! I'm totally with you - this time of year is not my favorite. As I kid I used to want to celebrate my half birthday in the summer instead of my actual birthday because snow and school vacations would always ruin my birthday parties:( But at least we are getting a break this week from the brutal cold! The pics of the kids at the baseball event are great! Noah definitely has the pitcher stance down; maybe he'll be the next Josh Beckett?!
