Summer happenings and Sports

Sienna and Hudson did 2 weeks of full-day gymnastics camp this summer.  I thought the full day option would make them super exhausted, but they loved every second of it.  They learned so much gymnastics and also were able to do crafts, watch movies and play games.  It definitely brought back memories of my summers at camp!  Except we stayed at a hotel across the street from the gym - I wonder where I sign them up for that?!  ;)  Just kidding.

Sienna also began doing Tae Kwon Do this summer at a local gym.  I was kind of skeptical about the sport, mainly because I knew nothing about it.  TKD is very much based on respect, rules and discipline and frankly, that's the type of environment Sienna LOVES.  She's definitely my rule-follower and she's loving the sport so far!  She started out as "no belt," and had to learn how to count 1-10 in Korean, say several phrases in Korean, and answer different questions about why she practices TKD and what it all means.  On top of the homework that we were in charge of at home, she learned her "form," which is the actual movements.  She tested and passed to white belt over the summer and just recently tested again and got her white stripe belt!  The testing for the belts is very intense and honestly, even I'm intimidated...so I'm super proud of her and can't wait to see how far she takes it.

Hudson first season of flag football is officially over, with their last game of the season played on Saturday.  We played on a local league with a good buddy of his and he had a blast.  He's just learning the rules of the game: when and how to run; how to play good defense and grab those flags; and also the thrill of winning and the agony of losing.  :)  I really hope he continues playing because we are a football loving family and the Skins are breaking our hearts.  Hudson has also been doing gymnastics one day a week for the past few months and he's showing great progress!  I, of course, am super pumped about him loving this sport.  He's constantly upside down, practicing handstands and flipping on couches/beds.  He will most likely break something soon, like I did when I was 5, but it's all for the love of the sport.  Hehe.

Since I'm so far behind on blogging , I'll just recap a few of the fun highlights of the remainder of our summer:

We joined my family for another week of vacay - this time in Myrtle beach with my Grandmother.  We were sad that Scott couldn't take another week off, but so blessed and grateful that my family pitched in and helped out with the kids.  It was such a great week with lots of fun things to keep us busy.  And one of the highlights of the trip that I'll never forget is getting a job offer on the ride down (I95 South near Kings Dominion to be exact!)!!  More on that later.

So, I've misplaced my Myrtle pictures from this summer.  :(  I have no idea where they went.  Anywho, isn't my grandmother gorgeous?  She's almost 81, lives independently on the 3rd floor of a condo building and is as fiesty as ever!
We had some fun days with friends, visiting Great Country Farms, celebrating Brooke's 5th birthday and my great Uncle Tony's 90th birthday (!),  catching some minor league baseball games and just some good ole' fashioned American summer fun.  :)
